A rare early 19th Century Irish yew wood and chestnut Windsor wedding settle.
The plain top rail above a centre heart shaped splat with a wedding ring crown, flanked by stick turns and attractive shaped splats, the tops decorated with harps and the lower with a three leaf clover. The centre support rail joined to the angled arms on stick and in turned supports, all joined to a single slab of chestnut. Resting on plain circular turned legs with ring decorations joined by double crinoline stretchers.
The heart centre splat having the initials P.J. and dated 1825.
I think this settle is a little earlier than the date given due to the crudity of the scratch carving.
This settle is extremely rare and the only one of its type I've been lucky to stock.
