18th Century French walnut and fruitwood armchair.
The panelled back with scroll shaped cresting, carved with a stylized flower head and initials centred by the punch carved date '1788'. Flanked by deep scrolled arms housing side panels. The three plank pegged seat above a decorative shaped skirt joined to shaped centre supports and stretchers, resting on square chamfered legs. Having good overall colour and patination.
It is extremely rare to find a chair of this age and manufactured in these softwoods to be in such good condition.
